The Grammys really fucked it up this time, didn't...
Marcus Mumford and Winston Marshall of Mumford &...
Interviewer: Tell me about the album, what's going on with it, how is it going to be different?
Marcus: We're like, in the middle of recording it right now. In fact we drove literally to the airport to come here from the studio and when we land, we're driving straight back to the studio.
Interviewer: Where are you working?
Marcus: We're working all over England. In the Southwest, in Devonshire. And in the countryside, for the last couple of weeks. Yeah, we're cracking on with it.
Interviewer: Do you have a title for it?
Marcus: No.
Interviewer: How many songs have you got done?
Marcus: A number....
Interviewer: Between 1 and 100?
Marcus: Yes. How did you know?
Winston: He's good.
Marcus: He's very good.
Interviewer: Can you talk a little bit about how it's going to be different from what you gave us last time?
Marcus: Yeah, I think it's going to be a little different. From what we gave you last time. (Laughs). Ah, yeah, I mean, we're not being deliberately cagey, we're just uh, yeah, we're just in the middle of it. We need a little break from it, a little rest.
Interviewer: You're in the middle of the process and so it's difficult to talk about it?
Marcus: Yeah, no, not like a trauma, but it's quite nice to get away and be in the sunshine, because it's been snowing at home. So that's nice, isn't it.
Winston: Lovely.
Marcus: You're having a nice time, aren't you Winnie?
Winston: Fantastic.
Marcus: Tell us how much of a nice time your having.
Winston: I hope this Soirée goes on forever.
[Marcus cackles]
Interviewer: Are you excited to be at the Grammys?
Winston: (hesitantly) Um, keen.
Interviewer: Keen? What does that means in America?
Marcus: Eager. (He pronounced it Eega).
Winston: Yeah, it's a shame we didn't get to do any gigs while we were here.
Interviewer: What is the fun for guys like you, coming to a dressy party and sitting in the auditorium...
Marcus: ...and hanging out with folk like you? It's a highlight, especially when we get to talk about football.
Interviewer: Obviously as a Brit, you're a huge football fan, What is your team?
Marcus: AFC Wimbledon. They are a very small local team from Wimbledon, which is where I'm from.
Winston: Very exciting team.
Marcus: Very exciting team.
Winston: A bit like the uh, what's the...uh...
Marcus: Barcelona is the team you are thinking of.
Winston: No, the uh, green packers?
Interviewer: The Green Bay Packers.
Winston: Yeah, they are owned by the people of the city.
Marcus: It's a beautiful thing.
Winston: There's not many like that, but AFC Wimbledon is this new wave of teams.
Interviewer: And your team is..
Winston: I'm sort of the opposite, I'm for the (intelligible), like yourself.
Interviewer: Thank you for talking to us.
Marcus: Cheers.
(Then as they are walking off, Marcus sees a woman he obviously knows and nearly runs over several people to go give her a big hug).
